What is henry?

Henry is the Human Evolution News RelaY.

So what does Henry do?

Henry tries to keep you up to date with all the latest news about evolution and evolution-related topics.

What topics does henry cover?

Henry is interested in human evolution. In particular, I’m going to focus on stuff that’s related to my Ph.D. (”The Evolution of Language and Culture in the Pacific”). This includes language and culture evolution, linguistics, phylogenetics, human prehistory, culture history with a Pacific focus.

I’ll also include the stuff I teach in a non-popsci-evolutionary psychology course which covers topics like non-human intelligence (e.g. primates, orang-utans, birds), tool use, and a bit of general evolution, psychology, anthropology and neuroscience), as well as stuff that’s just plain fun.

Along the way, I’ll probably make fun of some people who deserve it, including creationists and the embarrassingly bad Evolutionary Psychologists (I’m looking at you, Waist-Hip Ratio and Landscape preference armchair theorists).

What drives henry?

Caffeine.

Who runs henry?

It’s my fault. Henry was built by me, Simon Greenhill. I’m currently working on my Ph.D on The evolution of culture and language in the Pacific in the Psychology Department at University of Auckland under the supervision of Prof. Russell Gray. If you have nothing better to do, you can find out more about me here.

Why are you assaulting my eyeballs with advertisements?

Doctoral students aren’t known for their massive bank balances and this is my daily caffeine fund. Besides, it amuses me to have ads like “Intelligent Design FAQS!” juxtaposed with “How to pick up women”. Go on, click them and have a good laugh knowing that some self-righteous incompetant boob who thinks a google ad will save-the-heathens, has just given me 10 cents.
