rates of evolution in island populations are increased

PLOS Biology has a paper by Virginie Millien testing whether populations of mammals on islands have faster rates of evolution. Millien compares the rates of evolution in island populations to mainland populations, and finds these island populations are evolving up to 3.1 times as fast. There’s also a brief synopsis by Liza Gross here
