Quentin Atkinson’s new webpage

Quentin Atkinson’s finally got himself a shiny new webpage

I am an evolutionary psychologist, interested in the evolution of human language and culture. I currently hold a post-doctoral fellowship within the Evolutionary Biology Group at the University of Reading in the UK. This site has just a bit of information about me, my research interests and some of the work I have done.

  1. Enrico Grazzi Says:

    Dear Quentin (if I may),
I’m a researcher at the University of “Roma Tre”, Dept. of Linguistics. I’ve seen your web-interview on Nature and I’ve read a few articles on-line about your research on the evolution of languages. I’m interested in the varieties of English as a lingua franca, and research in this field is showing that the contact of English with local languages and cultures is actually enhancing language variability rather than imposing English monolinguism. Something that in the long run might result in the birth of new languages, just like neolatin languages derived from Latin, in the past. I’d like to know your point of view.
    Regards,
    Enrico Grazzi
